>> good morning. welcome to "12 news this morning." i'm tim elliott. >> i'm melinda davenport. it is thursday, august 11th. a hazmat team was called to downtown milwaukee and an investigation of a sus pibs >> a wave of candidates coming through wisconsin on the road to the white house. first, hillary clinton's turn to lay out a plan that she says will boost the economy. we want to check on the morning commute and the thursday forecast as well. matt is on deck, and first going to sally severson. >> hazy, hot and humid. temperatures are 70 or better. the southwest winds. the dew point is upper 60s

as we get a live look, we top out near 90 degrees. most of us staying dry today. there is a whisper chance of a midday shower or storm. a better chance of the showers overnight and off and on throughout tomorrow. maybe the plans for jazz in the park. the theme is hot jazz and cold beer. we see the clouds coming back and the rain holding off until after mid matt? >> great shape on the roads. barely a couple of cars rolling through. the pavement is dry. the travel times are looking great. if you are leaving the house soon... that's a look at the morning commute, back to you. >> matt, thank you so much. a security scare in milwaukee, a hazmat team and police officers

wisn 12 news mike anderson is live downtown with the latest. good morning. mike. >> good morning, tim, we are outside of the us bank center in downtown milwaukee at wisconsin and cass. all is quiet at this moment. that was not the case a couple of hours ago. a suspicious substance was reported in the area. the crews were called into the investigate, including the hazmat team and thei departments. nothing dangerous was found. one person was loaded into a private ambulance. it is possible that that individual needed to be treated after witnessing the tense moments. everything is running smoothly right now at this moment at the us bank center and that is good news for the thousands of people

morning. >> thank you, mike. >> a drowning at a pool in milwaukee, it is confirmed the medical examiner was called to washington park. a 19-year-old man and his friends climbed a fence to swim after hours and the officers and firefighters tried to save the victim. he died at the scene. >> commitment 2016, the road to white house passes through wisconsin later today. republican vice presidential nominee mike pence is stopping downtown milwaukee and before that stopping in lacrosse and headed to milwaukee to the downtown hilton. this is his third visit to wisconsin in two weeks. last week we rallied in green bay with donald trump. for the democrats is campaigning continues next week in wisconsin.

monday. >> before both vp candidates stop in wisconsin there is a big focus on hillary clinton. later today he's expected to unveil the economic policy. this comes days after donald trump's speech and the controversial comments on the second amendment. we have the latest from washington. >> tim, hillary clinton's campaign stark contrast to economic policies with the plan to help working families. hillary clinton responded to donald trump second amendment slit up on the stump. >> now to the casual inciting of violence, every one of the incidents shows us that donald trump simply does not have the temperment to be president.

local rainfall is likely. now it looks like the heavy rain is west of madison and we could get a welcome rainfall up to an inch here. look at the thunderstorms pivoting out of minnesota and western wisconsin. this is going to weaken a bit. this is where we would get a whisper chance for a midday storm. the main action is overnight this morning hazy and humid. this afternoon we are up to 90 degrees. again, a slight chance for a widely scattered storm around the midday. >> if you are headed out, things are looking great on the roadways. the vehicles are headed to the east. no trouble.

covering south wisconsin for now. now, this is bart -- part of what i am watching throughout the day. with the humidity in the air, there is a chance of some of this holding together and rotating through here around lunchtime. overalling, the heavy rain in the state. temperatures 80s over the plains. we have 75 at the airport. 72 beaver dam. kenosha 69. at 9:00 this morning, all dry. noon, this is when if these guys hold together they would pivot through lunchtime. now, through 4:00, things are quiet for us.

pivoting through. 7:00, another round going. they'll pivot through around 10:00 or so. the best chances for storms tomorrow will be in the morning and a couple of scattered showers hanging out in the afternoon before drying out and settling in for a cooler and less humid weekend. 90 for today. most of the storms wait until late but again we are monitoring the midday tomorrow a few showers linger and nice dryer air and a couple of clouds early on saturday and a dry period. if we miss out of this rain, parched. i have been watering the trees. >> yes. >> and the pots. i would like a little rain. >> me too. >> thank you, sal. >> 5:21.
